04 / WHO SHE IS
Deer Woman appears in the stories of several Indigenous nations, often as a woman with deer features. Her stories aren’t one story — they vary by community, and they belong to the people who carry them.
In contemporary Native retellings she is also known as a protector of women — and a reminder that those who cause harm will be held accountable.
That’s the part this drop carries: a call to look out for one another. Indigenous women deserve respect and safety, and the Red Hand on this collection stands with the movement for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.
Deer Woman 2.0 artwork hand-drawn by Tori Horton, a member of the Navajo Nation.
WHAT IT MEANS TO WEAR HER
Hers, theirs, and your own. Respect is the first act of protection.
Believe them. Ask how you can help, then do it.
When something’s wrong, say so — even when it’s uncomfortable.
THEMCool shirt. Who is she?
YOUThat’s Deer Woman. In a lot of Native stories she protects women.
THEMWhy wear her?
YOUBecause Indigenous women deserve to be safe — and I want people to ask.
NATIVE INSTINCT
Native Instinct was founded by TJ, a member of the Navajo Nation. Every design starts with original, hand-drawn art — this one by Tori Horton, a member of the Navajo Nation.
The Red Hand Collection exists to keep MMIP in the conversation. Not as a trend — as identity, and as responsibility.
You don’t have to be Native to wear Deer Woman. You just have to mean it.
Meet Native InstinctBEFORE YOU ORDER
Yes. If the message speaks to you, it’s for you. Wear it with respect, and when someone asks, share her name and why she matters.
